Chairman's message

One of the reasons for setting up this site is to bring our Society to the attention of local web surfers who may be unaware of who we are and what we do.

We are a local society devoted to assisting those with learning disability, and also their families who are often put under a great strain in coping with the resulting problems.

We are affiliated to the National Mencap Society which provides information and advice regarding the complexities of the work we do.   However, it does not provide any financial aid and we are dependent upon gifts from local people and businesses and from a grant received from the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead.   In addition we hold two flag days in the town each year and participate in several other regular fundraising opportunities about the town.   We are very grateful for this and other support received.

Our need for funds is equalled by the need for volunteers to help in the activities and projects we undertake and we welcome enquiries from anyone interested in helping.   As Chairman I thank our dedicated committee members and all our volunteers for the unstinting time they devote to our activities, and I also thank our support worker who gives invaluable assistance to those we seek to help.

In browsing this site you will see described the activities we provide, from the clubs to the outings and holidays.   We are constantly looking for new ways to help our members and their families.

We publish a monthly newsletter which is circulated to all our members.   The three clubs we have are all based at Highview.   One of our expenses is the minibus which provides transport for our members.   This is operated by our volunteer drivers.

Once again, many thanks to all who assist us in whatever capacity and I repeat, we welcome hearing from anyone interested in helping.
