It goes without saying that any organisation needs funds. We try to avoid asking our membership for money, although we very much appreciate any help that they may give. Our methods of fundraising have altered over the years. In the past our main source of income was the profit raised from the sale of Christmas cards and gifts. In recent years the additional competition from other organisations and the Charity Card Shop means that we have largely lost our main source of revenue and we have had to look elsewhere.
We try to organise two Flag Days, one on a Saturday in Maidenhead Town Centre and the other by invitation in the grounds of one of our largest stores. For these events we need a group of collectors. Would you be one? The dates are always well publicised in our newsletter. We keep a list of regular volunteers and welcome additional people who can be contacted for these important occasions.
One of our members is multi-talented. She knits superb dolls, models and Nativity sets which she sells for our funds. In recent years, she has used her skills as an artist and photographer to produce cards and calendars which are also sold on our behalf. These items are sold at the Combined Charities' Fairs in Maidenhead and Cookham and at various meetings and events where an invitation can be obtained.
